This painting even after all these years remains one of my favorites. This was painted obviously when Shaq was still lean and was with the Orlando Magic and was approved for the NBA even though both Shaq and his then agent, Leonard Armato commented they would rather have not seen another image of him dunking from this angle.

I enjoy painting portraits, especially of artists and athletes who are favorites of mine. The incomparable Luther Vandross. This portrait was done for Playboy magazine.

I dusted off these images from the past (for nostalgia’s sake) of a style you may have seen me use during the ’90’s. Bright colors, dynamic shapes and textures. This one was done for shoe retailer, LA Gear back when they were competing with Air Jordans for on-the-court coolness.

This was a great project and marked a time when illustration was still heavily used in point-of-purchase marketing. I was given a unique opportunity by Budweiser to illustrate their 4th of July campaign that year in my style. It was fun seeing these standees in supermarkets everywhere.
